Can anyone identify the SAMUEL J. FLOYD, born Oct 1834 SC, who is listed in the Hillsboro Twp of Marion Co SC in the 1900 census? His wife of 4 years was Amanda, born Dec 1848 NC and his son, Vance, was born May 1877 SC.
I was unable to find Samuel J. in the 1880 census (does anyone know where he was?) but in the 1880 census of the Hillsboro Twp of Marion Co SC there is a listing for a group of Floyd siblings: HH48/57Floyd, F. S. wm 17 Head NC SC NC Sidney wm 15 Brother NC SC NC Carrie wf13 Sister SC SC NC Virginia wf11 Sister SC SC NC L. Vance wm3Brother SC SC NC Elliott, Susan wf20 Cousin SC SC SC
The 1880 age (3) of L. Vance fits that of Vance in 1900 (23).Does this mean that all the children belong to Samuel J. Floyd and a first wife?
I tracked Samuel J. and Amanda Floyd in the 1910 (this was Samuel’s 2ndand Amanda’s 1st marriage), 1920 and 1930 census records of Bogue Twp, Columbus Co NC.I also found death certificates for both of them: Samuel J. Floyd: b.5 Oct 1834 SC – d. 6 Aug 1920, Bogue Twp, Columbus Co NC Father: Samuel Floyedb.SC Mother: unknown
Amanda Floyd: b.30 Dec 1840 NC – d. 20 May 1930, Bogue Twp, Columbus Co NC Father: J. J. D. Formydeval b. NC Mother: Lucy Ann Pierce b. NC
I think one possibility is that Samuel J. could be the son of Samuel Floyd Jr (1799-1859) and Sarah A. _?_ of Marion Co.Any other ideas?
