Yes, our family always pronounced Fluckey as if it rhymes with Lucky. My maternal grandmother was Bertha Arvilla Fluckey. She was the daughter of George Washington Fluckey and Edith Ann Bennett and I think she was named for GW's first wife. GW Fluckey's grandfather George Fluckey came over during the Revolutionary War with the Hessian army but deserted the English to join the American army. He was with George Washington at Valley Forge. And being a tailor by trade, he also made some clothes for General Washington. At some point, he changed the spelling of his last name so we are not sure what it was or how it was spelled when he left Germany. Bertha A. Fluckey married Charles E. Inman in 1900 and she died in March 1969. I don't know of a Bertha L. Fluckey or Bertha Kathleen Brown.
