Christine Turner, 80, of Jacksonville died Friday afternoon, April 6, 2001 at Prairie Village Healthcare in Jacksonville. She was born on October 12, 1920 in Versailles, Brown County, the daughter of David Ira Darrell and Nina Hulett Fluckey. She married Russell H. Turner on August 23, 1938 in Palmyra and he preceded her in death on January 17, 1984. She is survived by two daughters, Nina McAlister of Jacksonville and Paula Brayton of Oshkosh, Wisconsin; one son, Ernest (wife, Kathy) Turner of Meredosia; fifteen grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; one sister, Frances Girard of Jacksonville; and four brothers, Ernest (wife, Betty) Fluckey of Mt. Sterling, Melvin (wife, Christine) Fluckey of Versailles, Charles (wife, Cathy) Fluckey of Chalmers, Indiana, and James Fluckey of Versailles. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Stacy Jane; and two sons, George Russell and David Eugene. Mrs. Turner was a House Parent at Illinois School for the Deaf, retiring in 1977. Prior to that, she had been a employed at NESCO. She was a member of the First Church of God. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, April 10, 2001 at the Williamson Funeral Home with burial at Memorial Lawn Cemetery, south of Jacksonville. Friends may call after 11 a.m. on Monday at the funeral home where the family will meet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes Foundation or the Shriner's Children's Hospital.
