I am a descendant of the Isaac and Nancy Milner family that in 1860 lived in Neshoba County, Mississippi. The marriage of Isaac Milner and Nancy Flurry that is recorded , 10 September 1836 in Harris County, Georgia has interested me due to the fact that it fits the timeline of my family. So far I have not found evidence to prove that this is the right marriage record. To date I have not found the 1850 census listing of Isaac and Nancy Milner. The place of birth stated for their children lead me to expect to find them in Georgia, but so far I have not located them. Messages #83 and #127 on this forum seem to indicate that this might be the correct marriage record for my 3rd great grandparents.
Family 207 on sheet 560 of the 1860 U.S. Census of Neshoba County, Mississippi lists Isaac Milner, age 44; Nancy Millner, age 38; Wm. Millner, age 21; Jas. Milner, age 18; Robert Millner, age 16; Isaac Millner, age 12; Thomas Millner, age 7; Mary J. Millner, age 5; and Martha A. Millner, age 2. Isaac was a farmer with real estate worth $1000 and personal property worth $600.All members of this household were born in Georgia.
Isaac and Nancy also had a son, John, who was older than William and was not living with his parents in 1860. On the 1870 U.S. Census of Choctaw County, Mississippi we find family 65 on sheet 257B; John Milner, age 32, born in GA.; Nancy Milner, age 50, born in GA.; Martha Milner, age 14, born in GA.; Martha Milner, age 23, born in LA.; Samuel Milner, age 10, born in MS.; Alford Milner, age 1, born in MS..
This family took some time to figure out. This is my opinion on it. John is the son of Isaac and Nancy Milner. Nancy is the widow of Isaac and the mother of John, Martha (age 14) and Samuel. Martha (age 14) is the daughter of Isaac and Nancy Milner. Martha (age 23) is the wife of John Milner. Samuel is the son of Isaac and Nancy Milner who was born in Mississippi after the 1860 census. Alford is the son of John and Martha Milner.
In 1870, Isaac Milner, the son of Isaac and Nancy Milner had married Martha Emaline Carter and they are also listed on sheet 257B of the 1870 U.S. Census of Choctaw County, Mississippi. They are family 60.
In 1880 several members of this family had moved to Texas.Nancy Milner, age 60 was head of household in Robertson County, Texas and living with her were daughters; Mary Rucker, a widow, age 24; Martha Milner, age 22 and son Samuel Milner, age 20. Her son Isaac Milner and his family were also living in Robertson County, Texas in 1880. Her son John Milner and his family were living in Falls County, Texas.
My line is Isaac W. Milner and Martha Emaline Carter and most of my work has been in that line.
I hope that this post has not been too long. I will continue to read the Flurry forum regularly.
