Hello. My name is Zane D. Perry. I am the 3Greats-grandson of Mahala Fluty, born circa 1825 to Francis Fluty and Elizabeth "Betsy" Endicott Fluty of Lawrence County, Kentucky. Mahala Fluty married to Joshua Marcum, son of Reverend John C. and Chloe Stephens Marcum of Floyd County, KY>Wayne County, WV. Both Mahala "Haley" Fluty Marcum and her husband Joshua Marcum are buried in the Marcum-Williamson Cemetary on Mudlick Fork of Jennies Creek in southern Wayne County, WV. Joshua and Mahala Fluty Marcum were the parents of many children.
According to Lawrence County, Kentucky court records, Francis Fluty and Betsy Fluty divorced. Their son, Aaron, testified that his mother had left his father "for no good reason". According to family tradition, Betsy lived in a log cabin on the back side of Francis Fluty's farm after the divorce, and got mysteriously way-laid one evening while walking home to the log cabin and died from the injuries. I do not know whether this is true or not, but I would like to know whether anyone has found any documetation to back up this tradition. I do know that Betsy Endicott's father was Samuel Endicott (sometimes also spelled in old documents as "Indicut"), a noted bear-hunter of early Kentucky pioneer days. Who were Samuel Endicott's wife and parents? Who were Francis Fluty's parents? I look forward to hearing from anyone with information on these families. Thank you.
Sincerely, Zane D. Perry, Virginia Beach, Virginia
