Colonial Virginia Fly's
In an effort to review and update my Fly family data, I came across a lot of questionable data in the early years. I have seen some trees having Fly's born in Northampton, Va and other areas. I understand that Northampton, Va is an island. I would think that Northampton, Nc or Isle of Wight, Va would be more likely.
I normally reference my data to John (1707) and Dorothy Fly. Based on a msg. by Cousin Jim, I understand that John and Dorothy Fly came to America abt 1733 from England with three sons. They first went to Pennsylvania where Christina was born, and then went to Isle of Wight, Va.
Of John and Dorothy Fly children - Wm, John, Jeremiah, and Christina:
Jeremiah died 1785 Richmond, Va ;no other info
John died 1804 Northampton, Nc; married Mary Hutchings 1764 in Southampton, Va; children John Dixon and Amelius Fly - born Southampton, Va.
Second wife: Susanna Johnson m. 1774, ?, she died 1794, Northampton?, Va?; children Emelius, Rebecca, Enoch born in Northampton?, Va?.
William died 1795 Northampton, Nc; married Mary Nicholas abt 1743 in Pennsylvania; children Jeremiah and Elisha born in Pennsylvania and Charles, Jesse John, and William Jr born in Northampton, Nc.
I would welcome any comments on above information
Thanks....Allan
