Both time and heavy medication for Parkinson's Disease are combining to slow my mind at an increasing pace. It's very difficult for me to focus and remain focused from moment to moment.
However, I find a train-of-thought recurring that begs for attention and elaboration so as to have it in the hypothesis as a possible, or even probable, view of things.
We launch the discussion by considering the document wherein William Fly witnessed the sale of property to Julius Nicholas in Granville Co., NC in 1762. I "see" William and family, Father John, Sons John, Elisha, sr., et al. leaving in the Fall of that year for the FIRST Tennessee Long Hunt. Early-on in 1763 Elisha, sr. meets and takes to wife Cherokee "Princess" DARLING, who delivers their firstborn, Jane/Janet in 1764. Elisha, jr. is born in 1766/67 in NC or VA; "Rev." John is born in 1 Jan.1772 in Virginia and Jeremiah is born in Northampton Co. NC.
The money for the purchase by William of the North Carolina land came from the proceeds of the very successful "long hunt" 1763 to 1766/67. (255 acres) When William, sr. died Elisha, sr. was already dead, so his child's part went to the three GRANDSONS, ELisha, jr., "Rev." John and Jeremiah.
I hope this helps ALL to understand how it COULD have been. I'd like to think my fifty years' search has been fruitful.
