Hi Bonnie, I am extremely glad to hear from you.I have had so many requests for your Fly/Flythe Chron. If you prefer to not see it on this page, I will ablige. However, it gets to the point and is the best I have ever read.Your research is tremendous.
About the Rochell families:
There is a George Fly, a Nathan Rochell Fly in Weakley Co., Court records 1825-8. One on a road crew, one a juror.
Also, what is interesting is there is a Nathan Rochell also listed.
I had an E-mail today from a lady that said Nathan Rochell Fly was born in Davidson Co., Tenn. about 1802.His father was from North Carolina - name John Jesse Fly, born 1788, who was killed somewhere in Tenn.I have asked for her sources and have not had a reply yet, if I get one.
I find all this extremely interesting. Also, there are orphann children, George, Lavinea, and others last name Fly who has a guardian named -- Walker.I asked Jim who they belonged to 10 years ago.He said he didn't know.I noticed one piece of info someone sent me had these orphans listed as belonging to Elisha Fly - that is mainly because this person decided they must go there. However, I don't believe that at all.
Also, in the same vacinity you will find another adult - name is William Fly.Could this be the older person on the 1840 census living in the Elisha Fly household? The census has a male with no wife listed, a male and female about the same age 60-70 yrs
a male and female in their 30's and a small child.Could be John Richard's family. There are a lot of possibilities for the oldest person - William, Nathan or George Fly and even could be Elisha without a wife. With a birth year of 1761 that works.
I have always contended that there was another Fly out there somewhere because Elisha's family does not make since.
Anyway, I send for the marriage and marriage bond for Jeremiah Nicholas Fly.I recieved the info a few days ago.Jeremiah was about 16 years old when he was married. Therefore, he should have had consent to marry, however he did not.The same for Lucy Fly.Anyway,Henry Capps was the bondsman.I also recieved the marriage bonds for 2 marriages of John Fly, and a letter as follows:Dear Ms. Ford, In hand, your requesr of late, November, addressed, to the Maury Co., Tenn courthouse, (with, ch'k, appended, in the am't of $20.00), with regard, to copies of three documents---pertaining , to the marriage of Jeremiah Nicholas Fly/Nancy Oakley.......
I am working in the basement floor, Maury Co. Courthouse annex where restoration of records is being done.I am reminded of a request, passed to me, by the Register (March, 1990), re: an investigation of the Deeds of Purchase/Transferral, relative, toyour Fly interest, at that time....
In addition, find copy of the original marriage bond of John Fly [John D Lytle Fly (1772-1855)' & 2nd wife, Lydia Newton. He, being the father of your primary interest, Jeremiah N...by 1st wife, Sarah Jane, nee Trader (1767-1808).
In a preceding generation, the Fly line having an allied conection, with the Willis Johnes line of Orange Co., N.C./ area... and, in a succeeding generaration, a collateral instance,, via, Andrew Tate Mitchell Fly's intermarriage, with one of the Jones girls....... would do indepth search, etc.signed Monte Hugh Knight
I think this is extremely interesting also.
William Fly had a land transaction in Orange Co., N.C. with - Arthur Stevenson? which turned out to be the property that Elisha, John, & Jeremiah were selling off in 1796.The disputed property that was said by some to have belonged to John Fly and the Rev. Norman Flythe send you, me, and J.W. Fly documents proving that the property in question was never owned by a john Fly.If I have the names mixed up tell me - I do not have the info in hand. Also, i found a Christian Fly in this area and asked who it was and it seemed to be a mistake and was Christian Ely instead.
So, we actually have a couple of new groups of Flys showing up in these places. Also, I find the name Walker who is the guardian of the above mentoned children interesting because of the fact there are Walkers in Georgia located where Williamson Co. is now which was the Cherokee Chickamonga Indian land until the 1830's when the government removal of the Indians to Oklahoma.
I trust your judgement and know you to be one of the finest geneologists around.I would like your opinion on this.I will have to wait until I go to the library in Houston to get the guardianship record which is usually every six weeks or so.The library I get to is a hit and run deal and I get there between doctor visits. It is by the medical center.
Please stay on this page and print your work for these people. It is so valuable and you are so good to give references of your information and acknowledge everyone who sent you info.I will follow through with the Rochell & Walker names as soon as possible.
Also, I agree that the Jeremiah in Northampton Co. in the Rev. War is not the same Jeremiah that is in Georgia. That is a completely different family beginning with Jeremiah Fly marrying a Miss Dupree in the 1600's.You will also find the DuPree name in Northampton Co., N.C.
So we have a whole new ball game with this.Won't you help?As I said, I get E-mails everyday from people wantiung copies of yoyr work.It is impossible for me to send it to every single person. This, as we all know, is a very expensive hobby.
Thanks,
Joyce
