Dear Mrs. White, I do hope you are recovering from your recent surgery.I hate to bother you while you are recovering, but there is a problem that only you can solve. There is so much conflict about Flys being Indians that it has gotton to the point where there are so many disagrements - it is a mess. I did find the Cherokee Chicamonga's in Walker district in Georgia before the Indian removal.I believe you have the key to this problem. You mentioned a Jeremiah Fly having an Indian Roll Number and that your father told you he was a Cherokee Chicamonga.could you please clear this up?Is it an assumption on my part that this Jeremiah Fly was part of the Georgia Fly families. There are very early records, as early as the 1600's where the first jerermiah to be found in Georgia married a Miss DuPree. No body believes me about that either.I would conclude that your Jeremiah was part of that family.I have been told by the Bureau of Indian Affairs that there is and was a family named Fly in Georgia, however, they did not have first names for them. I know many researchers that think there is a Cherokee Chickamonga, however, I did find them. They were in the area that is now Williamson Co., Tenn. Also, I am descended from Elisha Fly.You had mentioned that you knew his wife's name. Many people cannot even agree on that.
If you will tell me where to lok for these records I will beable to find them, as I did with the Cherokee Chiamonga's.
