Hello Jean,
Am newly arrived on the net, but an old hand in Fly-family genealogy since 1959, when Thomas Rhodes Lincoln got me interested in his project to learn more about the Fly family.Tom was (is) a descendant of John Richard Fly, b. 1811 in middle Tennessee. Tom, the last I heard was in the Veteran's hospital in Pittsburgh, PA with Alzheimer's disease.I do not know if he yet lives.
You are absolutely right about the connection of Sarah (Fly) Davidson being the daughter of John Fly, b. 1/1/1772 (Virginia) and wife Sarah Jane (Trader) Fly.She died in 1808 in Maury County, TN. and her grave in the Fly-family cemetery at New Fly Village, TN, sometimes just called "Fly, TN" is said to be the oldest marked grave in Maury County. She and husband John Fly moved to Maury ca. 1808.She is buried in a group of four graves. The four are her son Capt. John Fly, b. 1802 and his first wife, Sarah "Sally" (McCracken) Fly and second wife,Sarena (Cyrina?) Elizabeth (Webb) Fly.
The cemetery is about half a mile from Fly's store on the Kinderhook road in Fly, TN.Today (1999) the store is run by Wilson Fly son of "B.G." Fly (Benj. Gant Fly, jr.) Benj. Gant Fly, sr. was son of Capt. John and second wife, Sarena. Capt. John was a son of "Rev." John Fly, HALF Cherokee pioneer to Tennessee in 1796. He settled in what was Davidson county; then it became Williamson county in October 1798.When the area, currently Maury county, was carved out of Williamson, "Rev." John bought TWO 640 acre pieces of land from Hardy Murfree, for whom the city of Murfreesboro was named. John's brother, Jeremiah, b. ca. 1773 co-signed the note, but did not participate in the ownership.

Do you know that Rev. Joshua Fly, brother of Sarah (Fly) Davidson, married Sarah (Davidson) Fly, sister of John?Rev. Joshua Fly was an ordained Methodist preacher, whereas his father was a farmer and "lay" preacher, written up in McFerrin's "History of Methodism in Tennesse as having furthered the interests of the church in Maury county befor the Rev. John Crane began riding the circuit. I have photocopies of photographs of Rev. John Fly and his wife Sarah (Davidson) Fly, which came to me from members of the Aaron family.

I'm not sure if Sarah Elizabeth Reed was a Davidson sibling or the wife of Thomas Ervin Davidson. Please clarify.
