Continuing comment, see #103 -I have seen reference to George and Nathan Rochell Fly (not Rachell) in Carroll County Court Records (I think in 1828)I have NOT seen any for Maury County. If anyone on the Forum can cite a source in Maury for the presence of EITHER Nathan Rochell or THIS George in Maury, please share with me.My postulation places these two as possibly sons of the dead Jesse, b. ca. 1788 to Elisha, jr. and Elizabeth (1790 Census - Northampton Co., NC. for male child - firstborn of Elisha, jr.)
Refer to #104 - 1850 Census taker's apparent error. The listing of Neelie A. Fly as a "Male" Head of Household HAS to be mistaken.Cornelia Ann (Mullen) Fly was the widow of William Fly, son of Elisha, sr. (b. May 1793) (son of John Dixon Fly).William died in 1749 of Cholera and Consumption.Cornelia Ann "Neelie" died seven years later of "Consumption".The couple was childless. It becomes apparent that "Neelie A. Fly" should have been marked "Female" in the Census of 1850.
Does anyone have a photocopy of the page of the Davidson 1850 Census that has been interpreted as of a William Fly and wife "Martha" with William's age reported as 54 yrs.? I have some material from Jim Ravencraft that treats this family as if it were the family of Col. William Fly, b. 1794, the son of "Rev." John which it can't be.I have not been able to figure out what William it is, if indeed this is a WILLIAM FLY, and not a possible miscopying of a family like "Fry" or "Ely" or something similar.I need a photocopy of the pertinent page, but Jimbo didn't give one, - only that it's a farmer in Davidson. He says that there is a servant by the name of "Bob McKnight" with the family.THAT should help identify the family-listing of interest.
#107 - Penelope Fly - my #641 - was daughter of Jeremiah Fly, b. ca. 1773.(We know of Penny, Peggy and Patsy and Martha - to name the ones that jump into the mind.)Jonathan Bullock was said to have been a Doctor.
#109 - Mary "Polly" was married to Owen Lane. She was a daughter of John Dixon Fly, married in Davidson.
#112 - Rebecca Fly was daughter of Elisha Fly, jr. She did marry John Cochran. However, again we see Clarence including Jeremiah Nicholas Fly among the siblings of Rebecca, Lucy John Richard, etc.I urge you to take out Jeremiah Nicholas Fly from this sibling group and put him under John JESSE Fly, son of Elisha, jr.This, of course, has the effect of substituting John JESSE Fly for Jeremiah Nicholas Fly in the sibling listings.
#114 - Where Clarence Michaels gives us initials only, I offer the full names Richard Harwood Fly, son of Enoch Fly, b. 1799, son of John Dixon Fly.Richard Harwood Fly died in 1878.He had three children, Sarah Ann (Fly) Briley, Julius John Fly, and William Enoch Fly. - Enoch, b. 1799, the grandfather of these three was a cabinet-maker by trade. As such he made coffins, as well.
I hope to have a functioning printer by midweek next.If I have outstanding promises to any of you for printed-out material. be good enough to remind me in a week or so, so that I won't fail you unintentionally because of my current outage.I think the print-head tore up on my "Epson".
