I have been going through my records and have misplaced a letter from you.The letter was written by the late Bessie Hawkins in reply to a letter you wrote you.The date of her reply was January 28, 1975.The letter begins -
We are indeed distant cousins. Nevertheless we are the descendants of the same tribe.
Your letter was of much interest to me .... she explains that the Fly family as being Indians and writes about her grandfather, Elisha Fly Capps and his brother Pleasant B.R. Capps son.
Would you consider sending me a copy of the original letter she wrote to you? Bessie was such a lovely person and very special to me. I am sure you thought quite highly of her also. She was a joy to be around and a joy to talk to.I do miss her.Her letters are very precious to me.I would appreciate having a copy of this letter - it is the only one I cannot find. Her handwritting was fine. She wrote me letters when she was well into her 90's.
Also, can you tell me if Clarence Michaels is still living?I have not heard from him for over a year. That is unusual because he always wrote to me and was such a fine Christian man.I have a letter from him that he wrote to me the day his wife died. The last time I spoke with him, he was not feeling well and was going to stay with his sister. My letters have all been returned and he always sends a Christmas letter with the plan of Salvation in it to everyone.I did not get one this past Christmas. Can you tell me if he is still living?I would appreciate a reply on both requests. Again, thank you.
