Today is Thursday. On the upcoming weekend and Monday I will be getting organized and packed to go to Franklin, TN. and Nashville, TN. on Tuesday next.I am invited to a wedding the following Saturday afternoon in Nashville.
If you are saying, "Why is this pertinent to Fly-family genealogy?", I will answer that.
I plan to go up on Tuesday for the reason that I am planning to do genealogy on Wednesday and Thursday mornings.By pre-arrangement with responsible individuals at the Williamson County Genealogical Library and separately at the Tennessee State Archives and Library, I expect to make a presentation at each place, - one on Wednesday and one on Thursday, of a set of my latest edition of the Fly, Flye, Flythe Genealogical Books. Each set EIGHT Volumes.
The format of THIS opus is Numerical-order listing of PERSON SHEETS from #1 to #10,734 in EIGHT Volumes bound in FOUR sets of binders, two volumes to a binder.Volume EIGHT of EIGHT is the MASTER INDEX.When one finds his target name in the master index, he/she learns the individual's Record Number. The assigned-record-number leads the searcher to the individual volume of the remaining SEVEN to find the target name in the VOLUME INDEX.The difference between the MASTER Index and the Volume index is that the VOLUME Index tells exactly what page in THAT volume to find the target person's "Person Sheet" and the other pages where he/she appears as "Parent" or "Child" of the next one up-line or down-line.
In beginning to use the set to find an ancestor, it is a given that there are 1500 names in each volume in numerical order.Upon finding the record number of the target individual, for example, a number like, say, 3001 would immediately reveal that the target is the FIRST record in the THIRD Volume, which begins with #3001 and goes to #4500.
If any of you are in the Franklin or the Nashville area and would like to be present for the presentation at either place, the hour is to be 11:00 A.M. - Wednesday, - Franklin, 11:00 A.M. Thursday, - Nashville, August 16 & 17 respectively.
I will not return to Montgomery until Monday afterward, so I will not be in a position to respond to Forum messages or e-mail for a few days.
