I've been totally puzzled about the date of that marriage too.I found it in the Franco American Marriage book at the AFGS in Woonsocket.A volunteer from the AFGS told me that the officiating clergyman to be Charles J. White, but no record of a church marriage could be found. I suppose a typo could be it, but 1869 doesn't fit, because the first child was born in 1861.
The marriage is also recorded in the rhode Island State Archives in the 1879 book, registered City of Prov, RI---May 31, 1879
On the baptismal certificate, it is clearly states that Eusebe and Philay were the parents, and no God-parents were listed.I phoned them, and the lady who checked for me said there was no further info than the copy she sent me.
I am really stumped, and do not know where to go from here. I thank you very much for your help, and appreciate any suggestions as to where to look now. Mary Ilene Trainor
