Dear Stephen: My name is Thomas Foran and I believe I have family information that might be of interest to you. I can give you a brief version of what I know and perhaps we can get into more specific detail at a later time. I don't have my reference material in front of me at the moment, but I'll give you some data that might be helpful.
Michael Foran and his wife Esther (nee Dunne, I think)arrived in the US from Ireland in c.1853 and settled on Milwaukee's East Side c.1856. Michael's eldest son, Michael J., also born in Ireland was around seven years old when he arrived with his father. Michael J. married a woman named Jane Hicks (although some documents I have give her maiden name as LeHue) who was all or part Cherokee indian. One of Michael J. and Jane Foran's son's was Joseph A. Foran, who started a successful plumbing business on Milwaukee's east side. Joseph A. and his wife Nellie (nee Rieff) had 13 children, I believe, one of whom, William, was my grandfather as well as Lawrence, from whom I believe you may be descended. If all of this sounds right to you, let me know and I'l be happy to give you additional information.
You can e-mail me directly if you choose, at email@example.com and let me know a little bit about yourself.
