Fords in Oklahoma, Osage Tribe?
I am seeing any information regarding my g-grandfather, J.W. (Joseph
Washington) Ford, or any family.J.W. was born in Howard county, Ark.,
May 10, 1865.Married Rosa Timmons Hearne in Mineral Springs, Ark.,
July 14, 1887. She died in
1937 in Pawhuska.J.W. lived in Texas where he was "in the cattle
business." In
1919, he retired and moved to Pawhuska, Okla., where his daughter, Mary
Ford Gore, lived, and remained there until his death in 1948. J.W. and
Rosa are buried in the Pawhuska Cemetery.Rosa had a previous daughter
named Maude Hearne, who married a man named Gossett. She lived in
Bartlesville and is buried there.J.W. and Rosa had three daughters,
Mary Ford Gore (married Charles Edward Gore, Sr.), Berneice Ford
McChesney, and Verona Ford Lemon.Mary and Charlie Gore are buried in
Pawhuska.Berniece McChesney is buried in Pawhuska.J.W. and Rosa had
another daughter named Martha Ida Ford, born 1892, who married a man
named John Akins. He was supposed to have been (family legend) an
Osage.Martha died young without children, I have been told.Does
anyone have any information about John and Martha? Can anyone confirm
his membership in the tribe? When, where, and how did Martha die? What
happened to John Akins? Two other of Rosa and J.W.'s children, boys
named Walter and Marvin, lived only a year and nine years respectively.
Walter from 1896-1897.Marvin from 1899-1910.I was in Pawhuska over
Mem. Day and could not find the graves for these boys, though I remember
my dad pointing them out to me once when I was a child. How would one
go about locating their graves in the Pawhuska Cemetery?
I would apreciate knowing any info anyone has about the ancestors or
descendants of this family. Thank you.
