Several years ago I obtained from the National Archives in Washington, D.C. the Civil War record of Jacob Fouch, son of Garland McDowell Fouch and Phoebe Grindle Fouch Knapp (1832-1912). Jacob died January 25th, 1865 as a result of the war, and his mother requested a pension. Phoebe married Garland McDowell Fouch 25 June 1841. In one document Phoebe states that her husband, Garlsnd McDowell Fouch, died in Warren Co. Indiana. In another document she states that Garland died in Danville, Illinois. I tend to believe that it was Indiana.
It is quite a large file, so there is probably much more in the National Archives. At the times I was there, I copied the records of all Fouches; hence, often hurriedly scanned and copied only the records that seemed most relevant. If you could actually go there, you might find quite a lot.
