They have a large Fouke collection among their materials; it includes old photographs and many details concerning what I refer to as the Ohio branch of the Fouke family( I descend from the Illinois branch; we ARE related).
Here are some details of your line of descent; i will omit siblings, other wives, etc.
you and I both descend from an "Old" Michal Fouke and his wife Sophia; myself through a son, Christian, you through Michael Fouke,Jr. (born 1766) and his wife Peggy Entler.
their son Joseph Entler Fouke (1802-1884) and Naomi Showers had:
James Sansom Fouke (b. 1825)and Esther Marilla Brainerd had:
Wm. Lincoln Fouke (b. 1863, a twin); he & 2nd wife Caroline McConoughy had:
Jas. H. Fouke (b.1907) & wife Lucille Nissen had:
your grandfather Wm. Peter Fouke who married Alice R.
Joshua, I do hope you will get involved in researching your branch of the Fouke family, as there are many, many interesting stories to be found. For instance, a Joseph Winfield Scott Fouke is reputed (under an assumed name) to have died with Custer at the Battle of Little Big Horn (the name Fouke does in fact appear on a monument there).
Also, a Fouke descendant is reputed to have been among the first white settlers of Ohio;an Elizabeth Fouke was captured and adopted by the Wyandot "Indians" and subsequently married a Mr. Whitaker who underwent the same thing. They were granted a large landholding in the Sandusky area; later Fouke immigrants from the Shepherdstown ,(West)VA area lived on the Wwyandot reservation for a time.
Please contact me if you need more help. I would be very much interested in any research you might undertake.
