John Fowler d. 1808 Kanawha Co., VA
Looking for information on John Fowler who died 1808 in Kanawha Co., VA.
A Sims family compilation by George R. Penick Jr. notes that Edward Sims was administrator of the estate in 1808. Edward Sims is said to be the son of James Sims (b.1754) who lived in the part of Kanawha that became Nicholas County. James' daughter Mary Sims (b. ca. 1788-1792) married John Fowler 13 January 1808. I've also seen the date of marriage as 28 February 1808; married by Edward Hughes. I wonder if this John Fowler was an older man since he died the same year that he married AND left a will. In other marriage records I have seen "Edw. R. Hughes" and "Edward Hughes" -- don't know if they are the same person seen in Kanawha County court records:
"14 Sept 1803 On motion of the record Edward Hughes producing credentials of his regular commission with the Baptist Church leave is granted him to celebrate the rites of matrimony between persons properly applying in the county."
After Fowler's death Mary married a Hughes and had four known children: Tazwell Hughes, Andrew Hughes, Elizabeth Hughes md. Nelson Johnson, and Mary Hughes md. Johnson Foster.
I would be interested in knowing if John Fowler was previously married and had children. Are there any Fowler researchers who have seen the 1808 will of John Fowler which lists Edward Sims as the administrator of the estate?
Thanks for the help,
