Re: Drury Towns, was America M. Fowler
Yes, Nancy Towns did have a brother named Abner Larkin Towns and, though he's not listed with the family in the 1850 census for Benton Co., Alabama (was he already in Texas?), I strongly suspect Drewry/Drury was a sibling. Here's what I have.
Reuben Towns, born abt 1800 and died before 1850 in AL was married to Lavinia (Vena) Ledbetter, daughter of Daniel Ledbetter and Nancy Wheeler. She was born abt. 1798 in Pendleton District, SC and died after 1860.Rueben is listed in the 1820 census for Pendleton Co., SC, the 1830 census for Anderson Co., SC, and the 1840 census for Benton Co., AL.He served with the Georgia Militia 4th Regiment in the war of 1812.Lavinia was listed in the 1850 census for Benton Co., AL, Family #685 and also Calhoun (was Benton) Co., Al in 1860, Family #784.
Children listed with Lavinia in the 1850 census are Martha M. born about 1827 SC, Abner Larken, born about 1829, SC, Daniel A., born about 1830, SC, Nancy M., born April 16, 1833, SC, and Susanah P. Towns, born about 1840, AL.In the 1860 census, Nancy is married to America M. and living a few houses away from Lavinia, who is living with Susannah and next door to Daniel.Abner may have already moved to Texas, where he is listed in the 1870 census in Rusk Co., family 472 and Drury is family 477.Nancy moves to Texas with her family sometime after the Civil war and is listed in the 1870 census is Smith Co. and the 1880 census in Van Zandt Co.
I have more information on the Towns and Ledbetter families if you want to reply off line.
