My name is Jean Neil and I am one of the 'down under' Fradd family. My grandfather was Richard Fradd 1878-1934, g-grandfather Josiah 1834-1916, gg-grandfather Francis 1807-1889, ggg-grandfatherWilliam b.1765, and gggg-grandfather William 1712-13. My cousin in England Janet Uren has supplied me with nearly all the information on 'our' side of the family as I am merely an amateur in this game compared to all you dedicated genealogy sleuths. I am a historian and a migrant I am reallyinterested in what made some families move around the world when others were content to remain in one place. So you can imagine that I was amazed to find that there were two definte branches of the Fradds in Australia, and then to read of the American connection too. Where exactly does your branch of the family coincide with mine? The other interesting part that I must follow up one of these days is the possible South African connection. My grandfather went out there before he married my grandmother and as he died comparatively young and my grandmother didn't tell us much about his earlier life we assumed that he simply went out there to the gold mines. However, knowing how the Fradds travelled it is possible that he went out there to family - he certainly visited his relatives out here. When you have time I would really appreciate hearing from you.
