CHARLES FRANCIS has always lived in Java, NY. His father, James Francis, was a native of Rutland Co., VT, born in 1795, and married SOPHRONS WOODWORTH, of the same county, in 1814. In 1818 he removed to Java Village, and soon after located permanently on one hundred acres of wild land on lot 21, range 4, being one of the first settlers in that part of the town, where he remained until his death, June 30th, 1839. His wife survived until Jan.19th, 1852. He was an influential and respected citizen, generous and philanthropic, and is still kindly remembered by many of the older inhabitants for his friendly advice and timely assistance. Charles Francis was born May 24th, 1819, and was married Jan. 3rd, 1850, to ELIZA WOOLSEY, daughter of Henry Woolsey, of Java. He succeeded his father in the possession of the old homestead, where he still resides.
