Hi Anne, It certainly seems likely this is the same man. How exciting :-))
I looked again at the marriage certificate. My William FRANKISH was married Oct 29th 1875 at the Cathedral and Parish church of Manchester and gave his age as 23, bachelor. Shoemaker, Residence (given for both bride and groom is 1, Joseph St. Bradford). His father was alsoWilliam FRANKISH, Farm labourer.
I have a picture of him ( head and shoulders) if you would like to check for family resemblance :-)) Do you have the birth certificate? Its interesting to learn his mother's name was Bessie.
I also just checked on the LDS on the 1881 census and found him. It says he was born in 'Hannarly' Yorkshire. This is probably a mistake by the census taker.
Born around that time too, there were two others called William FRANKISH on the online LDS. One was born in Manchester, wife, Mary, he was a 'feather packer'. The other was born in 1854 in Winterton, Lincoln, and was living in Middlesex in 1881 he was a 'medical prof not practicing' no wife. Jean
