Hi Anne, I have not done much on my Frankish line recently. I have been doing other things. On the 1881 census my William Frankish birthplace ( from IGI) is 'Hannarly' and I don't think there is such a place. His other documents say born in Hunmanby. His wife, Ann Slack, gave three different birthplaces on different documents . They are probably close together. Marple Derbyshire, Mellor, Derbyshire and Bunbury, Cheshire. So I suppose some people were a little casual about where they were from. Their daughter, Sarah Frankish, married a man who also gave two different places for his birth, also close together, in Cheshire.
I am pretty sure that the baptism that you found for a William Frankish Feb 26, 1852 Hunmanby, mother Bessie, is probably mine. Bessie seems to have been B/Chr about 1827 Bridlington William may have had a brother, John M Frankish, as he is listed living very close to William (in a directory 1895)WilliamFrankish ( Master bootmaker)living at 515 Stockport Rd, Manchester, and Joseph Frankish, Boiler Inspector, living at 535 Stockport road. There was alsoGeorge Frankish, in the same area,( another relative?)a collector for Inland Revenue. I did find quite a lot of Frankish names area in Directories and LDS searches. I foolishly did not write down the sources, but made quick notes by hand, meaning to go back to record the material properly later. ( grr!)I do not know where I got some of the information now ( I will have to search again)but it was online, probably the 'Historical Directories' site for some of the info?
I will post anything I find out when I get back to this line. I have been focussed on my Brindley line.
