Hi, Ted.I just wrote a lengthy answer to your post and documented my work but it was too long I guess. The whole thing disappeared as I was nearing the end.
So suffice to say...I know about Paul Garrison who married
Elizabeth Fraizer. Sam told me he was mine and that Paul had abandoned his wife and children and went to Virginia.
Elizabeth was living with James Madewell by 1743..as was her son Job, at least. Their birthdates were given and they were part of a lease for thier lifetimes. She was not named a widow ever in anything I ever found.
I have searched high and low and NO documentation of Paul dying have EVER Turned up for me!He was living in Augusta Co., Va BY 1743. He could have gone by 1740-41. That is the first date I find him there. He did NOT die ...he was alive at least until 1772, named in his FIL's estate proceedings.
I have a string of records showing Elizabeth Fraizer Garrison (Madewell)'s parents being Dr. Alexander and Elizabeth FRaizer. She had a brother John also named in those records. Her mother married Richard Hewitt, after Dr. Fraizer died by 1720... and she and Hewitt had a daughter Mary. Richard Hewitt was chosen (recorded) as their guardian by
Elizabeth and John Fraizer.AFter Richard Hewitt's death, by 1729 ,
Elizabeth Sr. married Benjamin PRice, June 22, 1730.
In later years Elizabeth PRice and Elizabeth Madewell were named in John Fraizer's will as next of kin (when he died in Baltimore Md. in 1756).Elizabeth PRice was his mother and Elizabeth Madewell was his sister.
John Frazier named a son Alexander as did Elizabeth Fraizer GArrison Madewell (her son by James Madewell in 1745.) I'd say named for their father, Dr.Alexander Fraizer.
Job was listed in Bastardry Court by name twice and I believe unstated once.
When Elizabeth Oram was brought to BC upon giving birth to a boy she named John Garretson she declined to give the father's name and was allowed to do that because ELIZABETH PRICE, JOB'S GRANDMOTHER posted surety! One of my group as well as a couple of other people are known to be descended from John Garretson and their family history is that Job Garrison was John's father.
In another case Job was named as the father of a Violet Demming baby. A young man named Richard Demming, in 1780, age 20 was placed under guardianship from Orphan's Court to Job's stepfather James Madewell who apparently taught him the trade of wheelwright. I would contend this boy was Job's son whose mother was Violet Demming.
I have to shorten this so without providing documents, there is a young man whose ancestor is the John GArritson whosemother was in Bastardry Court and surety was posted by Job Garrison's grandmother Elizabeth PRice. This young man has been researching and working with me as well as another group proving Elizabeth Madewell's lineage. He was always told that he was from Job Garrison but when he had DNA done he was NOT a Garrison. The name he carries iscloseto Elizabeth Garrison Madewell (not blood relative) .....Likely this young man's ancestor JObwas illegitimate. Job was born 1741 and between then and 1743, Paul had left and I believe had gone to Virginia where he first showed up.
By 1743 Elizabeth and Job are living with James Madewell and I believe they later married, Elizabeth and James. REcords show their continued relationship through the years, as well as his relationship with Job.
I have been researching Paul Garrison of Baltimore right along as I believed he was my Paul Garrison in Virginia by 1743.I could not understand why he would have left Elizabeth and children. Unless she left HIM to go to James Madewell. Now I think there is reason..if the son he thought was his, Job, turned out to be someone else's child, i.e. Paul stumbled in on something or the child began to look like that someonewho was known to Paul..that would be a reason he left Elizabeth and by 1743, that man whose son Job probably was, was married.
The timing and teh puzzle pieces fit exactly! I strongly believe that the Paul in Baltimore IS the one who went to Virginia!
So...since all this is documented, I do not believe that JOHN Fraizer was Job's Grandfather....but he did have a John Fraizer who was his UNCLE.Alexander FRaizer was dead 21 years before Job was born. And I do not believe that Paul Garrison who was married to Elizabeth Fraizer died in 1740-41.I have never heard of other children either but there could have been a couple. They would have been married 6 years by 1741.
Sam documents the old Paul of Delaware living in Baltimore when Paul and Elizabeth married and that is why he thought Paul was the son of Old Paul. Old Paul died there.I do not have any proof one way or the other re: Old Paul being Paul's father. But it is certainly possible. Eventually I will be digging on that again.
Have you had YDNA done? Perhaps you are related to me!
Thanks for writing and I would like to see the documentation you mention..with the proof I have, I don't feel your information is accurate, Ted.
