Hi Bonita, this may prove to be interesting! My gr grandfather Charles William Robins Russell was born 03 Sept 1857 supposedly in Boston, Massachusetts (but 1890 census says NY).At the time of his death (21 Nov 1936) he was living with his oldest daughter, Evelyn (Evie) and her husband Phillip Seymour and family in Portsmouth, VA. His first marriage was to Elizabeth Roberts on 25 Jan 1893 in Norfolk, VA.She died in Jan 1894 giving birth to twins (Evie and Charles, Jr.).Family story is that he gave the twins to a friend (the Harris family - florists) to raise. Now he met my gr grandmother, Mary Howard Spiers, in Richmond, VA and married her on 19 Aug 1895. They had six children (three lived to adulthood). A cousin kin to Evie found the obit for us in Norfolk, VA. But the cemetery's info with George and Vera Freedman as parents really threw us for a loop. Since Charles Russell traveled a lot as a newspaper reporter, we would not be surprised if he had married(?)more times than we know about (in the West, overseas during WWI, even in Norfolk, VA, etc.) Would you please check the above info against whatever you have about the Charles Russell? Thank you for your response!
