"ROY GRAY FRIED, 79, of Medridian, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Friday, June 30, 2006, at a local care center.
Graveside services will be held at 5 p.m. on Thursday, July 6, 2006 at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery in Boise. Arrangements are under the direction of Summers Funeral Homes, Ustick Chapel in Meridian.
Roy was born Oct. 13, 1916, in Tecumseh, Okla. the son of Benson and Melvina Fried. He was the youngest of ten children, four brothers and five sisters. His live began in Oklahoma, then onto Texas, where he became a cowboy and a lover of horses.
Roy married Lorraine Havilla on April 6, 1946, and raised two children. Roy served in the United States Army from 1948-1950. He was honorably discharged.
His passion in life was gardening. Whether he planted a seed, or it grew on its own, he saw beauty in all plants and trees. He was gifted in his occupation as a landscape gardener, and was able to design any layout or diagnose and treat any plant, lawn, tree or garden situation.
Roy is survived by his two children, Mevin Fried and Holly (Mark) Robb; four grandchildren and surviving sister, Martha. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and four sisters."
