Hi, Daniel. There are no further Fuenffingers from my line. However, after I posted my original message in response to another inquiry on Funffingers, I discovered another Fuenffinger family living in Minnesota on census records. They are not related to my line here in Minnesota, and I haven't had time to investigate where they originated from.I am currently working on locating my Funffinger line in Bavaria, where they immigrated from, but the research is going slowly.
I also came across one Maria Funffinger coming from "Bohemia" (which would be Austria/Hungary now) to New York on a ship's manifest, but have not pursued that line either - yet.I'm hoping that if I find my family line in Bavaria, it may give me more to look for.The obituary of one of the Funffinger daughters (my great-great grandmother) said she was survived by brothers, but there weren't any born here, so I am assuming that the brothers were older and left behind in Bavaria when the parents came to the US.That's the lead I'm currently following as I'm searching records from Nittenau to see if I can find them living in the town.
The name is very uncommon here in the states.I haven't found any others except the other family in Minnesota. In case you didn't know, it translates to "five fingers" from the German. And it can be spelled either in the original German format "Funffinger" (with an umlaut over the "u")or the Americanized version of "Fuenffinger" (deleting the umlaut over the "u" makes an "e" be added after the vowel).
How much research have you done on your biological father? If I can find the census record that I have on the other family, I'll send you the information.
