Thanks for the response and information. I am a descendant of Penina Piland and her second husband,Sam Houston Baker.
Per my records, Penina married Jacob Fulfer (listed as "Fulfro" in marriage records) in Lamar County. Their marriage license was issued 29 August 1855 (Vol. 2, pg. 140 Lamar Co. Marriage book). Penina married Sam Houston Baker 12 September 1860, license issued 11 Sept. 1860 Lamar Co. Vol. 3, pg. 89. Penina is listed on the 1860 census living in her father's home with her son. John Fulfer. In the 1870 census for Lamar Co., John is listed as John "Baker" in Sam H.Baker's home and four Piland children, nieces and nephews of Penina, are living there also.
The 1880 census shows John W. Fulfer living in the home of Lewis B. Robertson in Parker County.
Sam H. Baker died in 1889 in Bowie, Montague Co., TX and Penina went to live with her son, my grandfather, James Carroll Baker. Penina died 12 March 1916 in Bowie Texas and is buried in the Elmwood Cemetery there as is Sam Houston and their son Sam Houston, Jr.
My e-mail address is email@example.com I would like to exchange family information with the person who provided the Fulfer family information to you.
