I am wondering if anyone knows anything about the Asa Tucker who m. Ann Fullenwider in 1836 in Shelby Co., KY. She was the daughter of Jacob Fullenwider and Catherine Winter.
Circumstantial evidence leads me to believe the following about this Asa Tucker, but I need to bounce this off some Fullenwider researchers to see what they think.
Bill Taylor's World Connect posting of 11-23-2004 has a Benjamin Tucker b. VA? d. 1819 Clark Co., KY-will names children, one of which is Asa. Another son is Archibald.
I find Asa and Archibald Tuckers in Shelby Co., KY.
Bill has this Asa Tucker (son of Benj.) b. abt. 1785 m. 1817 Fayette Co., KY to Nancy Moxley
Moxleys married Fullenwiders and associated families in Shelby Co., KY.
Per History of Kentucky and Kentuckians p. 1692 (Google Books) Job Moxley from VA near Wash. D.C. m. Mary Buchanan & came to KY in 1816. Had 4 sons & 1 daughter. The daughter, Nancy, m. Asa Tucker. Her brother George Washington Moxley had children who married into Shipman, Rice and Fullenwider families, who intermarried among themselves thereafter.
Meanwhile Ann Fullenwider married an Asa Tucker in 1836 when she was 36 and by census records Asa was b. abt. 1788. There is a death record in Shelby Co., KY for what I believe is this Asa Tucker in 1857, says he was b. MD, parents B. & Mary Tucker.
I think that the Asa Tucker who married Nancy Moxley later married Ann Fullenwider. He m. Nancy Moxley(Bill says) in 1817 in Fayette Co., KY; he is in Clark Co., KY in 1820, 1830-1850 he is in Shelby Co., KY (owned 13 slaves per 1850 slave schedule), married Ann Fullenwider in 1836 and had children by her: David & Catherine, twins b. abt. 1843 (twins ran in the Fullenwider family); Thos. B. b. 1838,James b. abt. 1840, found in Shelby Co., KY in 1860 census, as is Asa's widow, Ann (Fullenwider) Tucker. The three sons, married with families, are still in Shelby Co., KY in the 1870 census. There are other Tuckers, including a younger Asa Tucker, in these same census that could be children of Asa Tucker and Nancy Moxley, but they seem to be attributed to his brother Archibald.
Do you think this scenario is possible? Any info. much appreciated. Thank-you.
