Obituary For Robert E. Fulmer of Turbotville, PA
TURBOTVILLE - Robert E. Fulmer, 79, of Schell Road, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2005, at Muncy Valley Hospital.
Bob, or "Poppy" as most of his family and friends called him, was born Feb. 28, 1926, in Allenwood, the son of the late Gleason and Grace (Zimmerman) Fulmer.
He was married to the former Nellie Armstrong on Feb. 9, 1946, and they celebrated 59 years of marriage this year.
A 1944 graduate of Milton High School, he enlisted in the Navy and served from 1944 to 1946 in the Philippines during World War II.
Bob retired from ACF Industries, Milton, in 1984 after more than 30 years of employment there and worked at Milton Transportation for some years following his retirement.
He was a 25-year member of Watsontown Lodge 401, Free & Accepted Masons, and the Williamsport AASR (Consistory); and a member of Muffly-Huff Post 8206, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Turbotville, and the American Legion, Milton.
He was a longtime member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Turbotville, where he had served on the church council, property committee and with the Lutheran Brotherhood.
Bob enjoyed crossword and word-search puzzles.
Surviving, in addition to his wife of 59 years, are four daughters and three sons-in-law, Pat Wilver, at home, Carol and David Frey of New Columbia and Nancy and Jim Deitrick and Jan and Wayne Meckley, all of Turbotville; one son and daughter-in-law, Jere and Wanda Fulmer of Turbotville; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren; and he was looking forward to two great-grandchildren on the way.
Visitors may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Turbotville, where a memorial service with military honors will be conducted at 11 by the Revs. W. Stevens Shipman and A. Bruce Amme.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in Bob's memory be made to the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 277, Turbotville, PA 17772.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Brooks Funeral Home, 207 Broadway Street, Turbotville.
