Re: Fulton is Hilton in Maryland
Patrice: I am still working on Baltzell & Creager & Fulton in Frederick Co. MD.There is a clusster of families living close together late 1700's that intermarried. I do not know who the Barbara is- the wife of Charles Baltzell Sr.I am looking int church mariages in both the Graceham Moravian and Evangelical Reformed. My John Lefever married Catharine Martz born 1777 in Frederick Co. May 12, 1800 "among friends in the home of Jacob Meddert". The only other recorded that way in the Evangelical Reformed church is a Baltzell about 1801 to a Juliana Wotring (Wortring / Woodring) "in the home of Jacob Meddert. A Jacob MADDERT had many children who married adjacent families 1795 - 1810?
The problem is there are many similar names to Meddert, but these are the only records of Meddert. There are about 6 different spelling for this Jacob.
The Wotring were for a time in the Moravian church and there and married into the same families that are kin to Baltzell. etc. There are a number of Baltzell in the Moravian. However, the Moravians recorded births, baptisms & marriages of non-member neighbors. But you might make connections there.
I have one connection: William Lewis Jackson, who went by Lewis married a Barbara Baltzell. He was the son of Henry Jackson of Frederick. A daughter, Mary Pope Jackson married in 1804 05 a Jacob Lefever born 1785 in Maryland. He "was raised by his uncle Major Baltzell". Uncle? But how?
