Futterers from Pforzheim to PA to NY

I too heard from my father that the Futterers came from Baden-Baden and that the name meant "feeder of cattle".My father was originally from New York City...moved south during WWII where he was stationed in North Carolina, and then met and married my mother. They moved back to New York for about a year...but he saw more opportunity in NC.They moved back to NC in 1946...and he stayed here until his death in October of 2000.We have very few Futterers in NC (I'm not sure I know of any)...other than my family.Dad's name was William...grew up in the German (Yorkville) section of New York City. The family belonged to Zion Lutheran Church around 84th street...but I believe the family had been Roman Catholic prior to the 1920's.I am a pastor in the Lutheran Church...just found this interesting Futterer forum tonight.
Peace, John Futterer
