Thomas and his father signed an Oath of Allegiance - Baltimore County Court Minutes 1772-80, folio 305 Hall of Records, Annapolis, MD.Thomas Gadd settled in Rockcastle Co, KY ca 1808 as he is listed in the Rockcastle Co, KY Census of 1810.

Thomas made the following Declaration:
State of Kentucky
Rockcastle County
On this 25th day of February 1833 personally appeared before the Justices of Rockcastle County
Court, Thomas Gadd aged 73 years -- a resident of Said County who being duly Sworn according
to law doth on his oath make the following declaration in order to obtain the benefit of the
provisions made my the Act of Congress passed June 7th 1832.
"That he was called out as a militia man in Baltimore County State of Maryland under Capt.
Stansberry -- Darby Sun. Colo -- James Giddins, Majr. and William Parrish, ensign.He was
Marched from what was then Called the Manner Church to the city of Baltimore and Stationed
there to defend the City.Remaining there for 4 to 5 weeks at a time then returning; he
Served.He Served Six or Seven of these Tours; he cannot recollect the precise length of his
Service; but he knows he did not Serve less than Six months actual Service.He was
acquainted with Joseph Burton and Edward Oldham, regular recruiting officers.He has no
documentary evident of his Service and knows of no person living by whom he can prove his
Service except what he cam prove by Jesse Williams.
In answer to interrogations propounded by the Court.He says he was born in the County of
Baltimore State of Maryland in the 1760 but he has no record of his age.He lived in the
County of Baltimore in Marland aforesaid when he was called into the Service; he moved
from there to Franklin County Va. and from there to Lincoln County (now Rockcastle) State
of Kentucky where he now lives.He was drafted; he never received any written discharge.
He is acquainted with William Smith and Richard Randals who can testify to his Character as
a man of Veracity and their belief of his Service as a Soldier.He hereby relinquishes all claims
to a pension or annuity except the present and declare that his name is not on the roll of the
agency of any State whatever.

According to research done by Sarah Rosemond Gadd Worley and her sister Marybell Violet Gadd Coonts,Thomas was working out an indenture to Thomas Davis for 50 acres of land in 1668.The land patent is as follows:
"1668 Dec 6, came Thomas Gadd of the County of St. Maries and proved right to fifty acres
of land due for his time of Service performed to Thomas Davis and also Mary Compton and
proved right to fifty acres of land, due for her time of Service performed to the Widow Shack,
by which said rights the both assign away in three following words Vis.
"Know all men by these present that we, Thomas Gadd and Mary Compton do assigne, and
make over all our right, title interest and claims of us and to our above specified rights to the
land unto the said William Pettipoole...and behoofe of him the said William Pettipoole his heirs
and assignes forever.
Witness our hands and seals the fifth day of November 1668

Came William Pettipoole and demanded warrant for one hundred acres of land by Virtue of the
