I took can trace my anscestory to Nicholas Gaillard. The name appears to vary between Gaylord and Gaillard. My information says Nicholas Gaylor was the child of Nicholas Gaylor and Joanne or Alice (?).
Nicholas Gaillard was born in France in 1490 and died in England in 1573.He was naturalized in England on April 16, 1537.This Nicolas was a Hueguenot refugee and married Johanne Alicia. The children I have for them are Hugh, John, Christopher, Edmond, and William--all born in Pitminister, Somerset, England.
Does anyone know if this is the Gaillard line that relates to Jean Gaillard, who is listed in Charles W. Baird's 1885 book "Huguenot Emigration to America" as being among those who emigrated to St. Charles in the Antilles Islands around 1671 because of the Huguenot persecution?St. Charles was among the places the Huguenots lived prior to coming to America.
I would be interested in any information about the Gaillard family history you may be willing to share.
