Re: Alfred Gallett from Scotland/UK Gallet(t)
Thank you for your response.Apparantly, I wasn't notified back in 2002 when you originally replied.Sorry for the delay.
As I mentioned in my original message, I'm researching on behalf of my brother-in-law (actually his mother), who would like to know something of her family's origins.
The information you provided, is more than we had.No one knew that Mary Georgina and Henry Austin existed. May I inquire as to where you found the information?
You had a question mark by Alfred Stanley's death. He died in Vermont and was buried there. When most of the rest of the Galletts finally settled in Wisconsin, his body was moved to Wisconsin.
I believe his headstone indicates that he was born 1866, died 1/13/1917.Other records indicate that he was born in 1863 or 1864.He is buried in Wauwatosa Cemetery, Milwaukee County, WI.
Some of the other Galletts that you mentioned are also buried there:
Alfred S. b. 2/28/1920 d. 11/8/1991
Catherine W. b. 12/17/1918 d. 2/17/1985
Francis S. b. 5/15/1895 d. 4/28/1973
James Alfred b. 12/21/1885 d. 1/19/1959
John F. Sr. b. 7/17/1905 d. 12/22/1965
Leonard C. b. 6/25/1908 d. 4/19/1979
Mabel A. b. 8/24/1892 d. 10/3/1979
Mary Ann b. 4/10/1865 d. 6/13/1944
Mary F. b. 11/1/1887 d. 7/19/1968
Mildred A. b. 3/18/1909 d. 4/24/2002 (John's wife and my brother-in-law's Grandmother)
Robert M. b. 1920 d. 6/14/1941
Violet F. b. 12/3/1895 d. 8/6/1991
After receiving the marriage record of Alfred Stanley and Mary Ann, I have scoured the England census records trying to find Alfred, his father, Alfred James, and his wife.So far no luck.It has been a family rumor, that Alfred S. was illigitimate. So we may never know, but I'll keep searching. Please feel free to contact me anytime. email@example.com
Thank you again,
p.s.occasionally ebay has some of Francis Gallett's clubs for sale on it's auctions.
