Re: Compiling NY, WI, and IL Gallett Families
Rootsweb.com has listings for Smiths Mills Cemetery and it gives a DOD as 1 Aug 1867. I don't know if his wife is buried there or not.I have a marriage date of before 1853 based on the birthdate of Charles.Below are some items from my notes concerning Martin.As you can see, the Admin. proceedings list a DOD of 1870 which is not in agreement with the cemetery transcription.

NY Census, p.108 (written), Hanover, Smiths Mill P.O., family #837-843: Martin Galot (sic) 39wm, farmer, $1000 real estate, $150 personal estate, b.NY; Adeline 28wf, b.NY; Charles P. 7wm, b.NY; John M. 3wm, b.NY.Listed in same dwelling, but a new family # is Lydia Ranselr (sic) 66wf, $1500 real estate, $500 personal estate, b.NY.
FHL# 0566093, Administration Proceedings, Chautauqua, NY, Vol.4, p.301; Surrogate Court at Jamestown, Chautauqua, NY, 8 Dec 1870; Adaline Lord, who was the wife of the deceased of full age, of the town of Hanover asked that letters of administration of the estate of Martin Gallett, late of Hanover, be granted to Julius A. Parsons.Martin Gallett died 1 Aug 1870 and the estate is valued at about $500. Charles Gallett, John Gallett and Mary Gallett are minors.
[NOTE: According to cemetery listing, Martin died 1 Aug 1867.]
