Absalom Galloway Will
ADMINISTRATION OF ABSALOM GALLOWAY’S ESTATE
MAY INTERMEDIATE COURT 1793
The last will and testament of Absalom Galloway deceased produced in open court and duly proved by the Oath of James Galloway subscribing evidence thereto.Jehu Mixon and Samuel Mixon who are the executors named and appointed in the said will refusing to qualify as executors.Rachel Galloway, Abraham Galloway & James Galloway apply for letters of Administration with the will annexed.Granted.Ordered that a Dedimers issue to Micah Mixon Esquire to qualify the said Administrators

In the name of God Amen, the first day of January One thousand Seven Hundred and Ninety three and in the Seventeenth year of the Independence of the United States of America.I Absalom Galloway of Darlington County and State of South Carolina a planter being very sick and weak in body but of perfect mind and memory, thanks be given unto God, therefore calling unto mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die, do make and ordain this my last will and Testament that is to say principally and first of all I give & recommend my Soul into the hands of God that gave it, and my body I recommend to the Earth to be buried in decent Christian burial at the discretion of my Executors;nothing doubting that at the General Resurrection I shall receive the same again by the mighty power of God.And as touching such worldly Estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me in this life, I give demise and dispose of the same in the following manner and form.
Imprimis I lend to Rachel my dearly beloved Wife one third of the plantation whereon I have lived for her dowry during her widowhood.I give to Her one bay mare, two Cows and Yearlings, one pot, one Skillet, one dish, and a half dozen of pewter plates, two Basons, half a dozen of Knives and forks, one spinning Wheel and Cards and Lastly all the Hogs and Sheep in my mark for her Children begotten by me and my former Wife’s Children till they become of Age.
Item I give and bequeath to my daughter Penelope Wilson one Shilling Sterling.
Item I give and bequeath to my Son James his heirs and assigns a Negro fellow named Moses and that when he attains to the age of twenty one.
Item I give and bequeath to each of my daughters namely Margaret, Tilpah, Elizabeth and Mary one feather bed.
Item I give and bequeath to my sons George and Absalom their Heirs, Executors, administrators and assigns this plantation whereon I now live to be equally divided between them and that when they attain to the Age of twenty one Years
and to my daughter Anne I give and bequeath two pots and the remainingpart of my household Effects.
And I do hereby constitute and ordain Jehu Mixon and Samuel Mixon executors of this my last Will and Testament and I do hereby utterly disallow revoke and disannul all and every other former Testaments Wills Legacies and Bequests and Executors by me in any ways before named willed and bequeathed, ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my last will and testament.In witness whereof I have hereunto Set my hand and Seal the day and year first above written.

COMMENT:Will witnessed by brother James Galloway on 1 Jan 1793.Named and appointed Executors Jehu and Samuel Mixon refuse to qualify as such.Brother James Galloway produces the will in May Intermediate Court 1793 and it is proved by his Oath.Widowed wife Rachel Marshall Galloway and brothers Abraham and James Galloway apply to have will annexed, which is granted, and they are qualified as Administrators.
