My ggrandfather's brother was named Thomas Gannon. I assumed he didn't come over to the states but I could be wrong. His sons Patrick and Eugene lived in St. Louis around 1900 with the widow of Michael, my ggrandfather. We should look closer into this. Did they go to St. Malachy's Church, by any chance?
