Looking for more information on the Garbrecht family of Massow, Pommern, Germany. I recently had the opportunity to look over the LDS microfilms from Massow and here's what I have been able to piece together:
MICHAEL FRIEDRICH GARBRECHT (my gr-gr-gr-grandfather) married MARIA LUISE BUSS in Massow September 20, 1840.
2. MARIE LUISE GARBRECHT (b. Dec 10, 1845;d. Dec 25, 1845)
3. DOROTHEA MARIE AUGUSTA GARBRECHT (b. Sep 22, 1847)
4. MARIA LOUISA WILHELMINE GARBRECHT (b. Apr 7, 1851)
5. BERTHA LUISE WILHELMINE GARBRECHT (b. May 7, 1854)
6. LUISE FRIEDRIKE WILHELMINE GARBRECHT (b. Mar 19, 1861; d. Apr 24, 1863)
Dorothea Marie Augusta Garbrecht was my great-great-grandmother.She married William Frederick Hanke April 21, 1868.They had one son--my great-grandfather Charles Hanke (b. Jan. 14, 1869). Dorothea (a.k.a. Augusta) and her husband William Frederick Hanke came to the U.S. in June 1882, settling first in Saginaw, Michigan. In 1895, they moved to a farm in Hemlock, Michigan.Dorothea died February 25, 1935 at age 87.
Her sister Maria Luise Wilhelmine Garbrecht (b. Apr 7, 1851) was married to Herman Ferdinand Korth in Germany. They also settled in Saginaw, Michigan. They had two daughters:Marie (1880-1976) and Minna (1882-1971).Maria Luise (Garbrecht) Korth died September 22, 1914 in Saginaw at age 63.
I am trying to uncover more information about my Garbrecht line in the US and in Europe. If anyone has any additional information, it would be greatly appreciated.
