Re: GARRETSON FAMILY FROM MARYLAND

I have been looking for Job Garretson wife Elizabeth for some 20 years and may be able to reconcile the issue.If there was only one Job Garretson in Baltimore in the period around 1760, there was a criminal case with the following summary:

Lordship v Elizabeth Orum



Convicted of fornication and bastardy and of having a base born child named John Garrettson about four months old for which she is fined three pounds current money and fees.Whereupon Elizabeth Price enters herself security for said fine and fees and also to indemnify the county from all expense in maintaining said child. November 5th 1759

Job Garretson also had another child as follows:

Lordship vs Job Garretson

Convicted before me od fornication by the oath of Violetta Dommitt for which he is fined thirty shillings Current moneyand fees.Whereupon Joseph Merryman enters himself Security for the payment of the said Fine and Fees and also to indemnify the County from all charges in maintaining the child sworn to him by the Said Violetta Dommitt.

Convicted before me by confession of Fornication having a Base born child which she swears to Job Garretson, for which she is fined thirty shillings Current Money and Fees Whereupon William Carter enters himself Security for the Payment of the Fine and Fees aforesaid this 5th day of January 1759.

I doubt whether Job ever married either Elizabeth or Violetta but did ultimately Mary Mary Arison.The dates around John Garretson birth have been either 1757 or 1760.The above record suggests he was born in 1759 which fits closely. Owen and Freeborn Garretson (sons of John) attempted to sue in 1898 for an inheritance of Job thinking there might be a pot of gold out there, but both died shortly there after.John did not appear in Job's will or estate which fits with the above information.
