Re: Garrett Family in Alabama
We had corresponded some time ago about your Garrettfamily member, Elisha Garrett. Yourinformation has beena huge help in findingmore on this family. I had actually found Elisha and Della on the Crisp Co. census for Ga. before they moved to Haralson. I'll try to pull that for you if you'd like it. But, I did want you to know I did find John and Jane (White) Garrett, FINALLY!They were in Hokes Bluff, Alabama in the 1880 census. John's date of birth is listed as 1835, much earlier than what I had anticipated. Jane is listed as J.A. and her B.D. is1845. Both listed as Ga. births.Children listed as W.A. age 9yrs.E.H. 7 yrs.E.J.7yrs.(dead giveaway) S.F. 4 yrs.andC.S. (should have been C.F.) 1 year old.The only reason I can find why they didn't actually list names is that they were listed as not being able to read or write. At that time that was so common. But, it would explain why they put only initials. I hope this helps your research. Let me know. I still have pics to send you.
