would like to know who raised my grandfather

i am the granddaughter of o.o. garrett;from russell county va. his fathers name was robert e. lee garrett and his wifes name was rachel. my grandfather died in the 1984 at the age of 84 years. he never spoke much about his family and i am curious as i have gotten older and am getting interested about this side of the family. any information would be helpful. i just know that he was left an ophern at the age of 3 and he had 2 bothersn= named ed and doc, who i never met. thanks to whomever can give me some info or point me as where to look. i would especially lioke to know about my gg rachel. i only learned lkately as to what her name was and that both my ggparents were school teachers. thanks for your help.
