I am searching for my great grandfather David C Gates who took out a marriage license to marry Josie Belle Swisher on August 26, 1888 in Danville, IL. (Vermilion County). They had a daughter, Ethel Swisher (my grandmother). I don't know if they divorced or if he passed away, but Josie married again in 1891. Any information would be appreciated - he is the last mystery in my genealogy on my mothers side.
