Jean Gauthier Jseph Gauthier adopted Algonquin children of Pierrre Gauhier dit

Okay I just came accross this post online while I was looking for ties to my native ancestry Here it is :


am a descendant of Jean Gauthier and Marie Marguerite Pressau as well as from Jean's brother Joseph who married Marie Fortier. Pierre Gaultier and Charlotte Rousell are their adopted parents. Their actual parents were killed fighting the Iroquois. Their names are Joseph Saguirou and Agnes Maxoumitimousens. They are Algonquin. Agnes is likley also Mascouten.

In comparing the ages registered on the census against the baptismal records the inconsiistencies are quite visible. The actual birth records are available through the PRDH site. Further understandings are from the families in the region and through the use of the Saguinghorra dit name to identify the true parentage of the adopted children of Pierre and Charlotte.

Is this where the dit Saguingoira comes from because by all accounts it was not always associated with Pierre Gauthier
