Melaine, My cousin Martha jane Gawronski recently received a letter from you. She is in the hospitl receiving treatment for Leukemia. I have been doing research on my great grandparents Catherine and Michael Gawronski for about 15 years now. I know Michael was from a town called Gorki Dabski(Dombskie), the province of Zinn, and the state of Poznan, Poland His wife Catherine Stefaniak was fom the same area but from the village of Usickowo. Michael had come to the US in 1881 but returned home to marry Catherine. The two of them returned to Toledo Ohio in 1887 or 1888.
I know Michael's father's name was named Michael also. Micael had a sister Agnes who also came to Toledo. He probably had older half sisters and brothers as his father was a widower who had remarried after his first wife died. There were other Gawronskis in Toledo, a Carolus(Charles) and Jacob I believe. I have never been able to find any relationship as they were long dead by the time I started my research. I read your letter and tried looking up the town of Chudzyko but could get absolutely nothingother than try different spelling.
The only relatives of Michael and Catherine in the US that I am aware of were Michael's sister Agnes and her husband Joseph Chelminiak( who's name somehow wound up being Helmick. Catherine had a sister Anna who married a Valenty Radecki, who was either a friend or relative of Michael, as he introduced him to Anna (Catherine's father would not allow her to get married until her older sister Anna tied the knot first).
The other relative was Valenty Sojka, who later changed his name to Sujkowski, and became a undertaker and still has descendants here as well as 3 mortuaries,
So that is the extent of my family. I would like too go order some more microfilm from Michael's home parish and see what else I can find out regarding his parents and siblings.
Sorry if I could not be of greater assistance.
