Re: Joseph Gaynor and martha gaynor/michael carolan
thank you for replying to my query.
In July 08 I visited Derrypatrick Cemetery looking for ancestors and maybe some long lost relatives. After consulting with the church records in the national library in Dublin and checking with my records,i was able to ascertain that your grandfather's father (Phillip Gaynor) and my great grandfather John were brothers. After asking people around the Summerhill area a lot of questions,we were fortunate to be able to track down and meet Mrs Betty (Gaynor) Cronly, Henry's sisterwho would be your aunt. She was unaware of any Australian connections but was very pleased to invite us (my sister Kay and I) in for a couple of hours after I was able to tell her who Phillip's father and mother were (Joseph Gaynor and Mary Mcmanus. My Great grandfather John was the youngest son of the family and soon after getting married in 1861 left for Australia. He and his wife Anne Coloe, have many descendants in Australia. There was another son in the family called james, whom I have no information of.
Anyway Joseph, send me your email and I can give you a lot more info on our Gaynors in Australia and some of the Irish ancestors and how we may be connected with the gaynor/carolan branch of the family. Regards
