Geeks family in Louisiana

Looking for researchers of the surname GEEKS. I have a John Geeks who was married to Sophia OPDENWEYER in Algiers (New Orleans), Louisiana, before 1869. John Geeks owned a schooner that worked in the port of Barbary Bayou, Livingston Parish, from about 1868. This couple also had a child, Eliza Johanna, born in 1869 and died in 1870 in Orleans Parish. I found a George Geeks in the 1850 Louisiana Census for Third Municipality, New Orleans. There was a Louise GACKS who attended the christening of a Sophia Elizabeth Opdenweyer in 1882 in French Settlement, LA. Does anyone know if these Geeks or Gacks were related to the GEECKS?
