My name is Debra Elge Jacobs. My Great-Grandmother was Clara Ruth Geedeson. Everything that you talk about in your posting dated, May 11, 2002 indicates that we are talking about the same Clara Ruth Geedeson. Up until just a few days ago, my sister, my brother and myself knew almost nothing about Clara. We have spent the last three days researching the family history on my Dad's side of our family and have managed to find out quite a bit.
Clara was my father's maternal grandmother. She was first married to Fred Edward Buback (b. July 12,1869, d.Sept 18, 1956). Their daughter, Ethel Marie Buback (3rd child) was my paternal grandmother.
In the 1880 US Federal Census, Clara was listed as the only child of John and Anna Geedeson(spelled as Gedison in the census document). It shows her being 1 year old at the time so we calculated that she was born in 1879. To further support this, we have a copy of a marriage license (2nd marriage to William A. McClellan)stating that she was 40 years old as of May 21st, 1919 (the date of the marriage).
We do not know what became of Clara after c.1940. My father and his cousins had few memories having had very little contact with her. They recalled that she visited infrequently, but they remembered that she was a sweet person.
We have more information about Clara's other children and can provide it to you at another time. We know for sure that she had 4 children and, possibly, a fifth child.
We were very young when our grandmother died (1967)and she had never told our father or us much about her parents. Do you have any information about Clara? We would very much like to know what became of her after 1940 or so.
