Apologies for the delay in replying _ I have had an eye infection which made looking at the screen rather difficult!
Your Gell /Thornton connection appears to go back some years!
Henry Thornton born c. 1823 (place not identified) married Eliza Gell bap. 1825 in Riseley on 17 November 1848 in Riseley.
I think they had 2 children William November 1851 and Mary Ann in 1852.
I think Mary Ann died aged 14 in 1866. I know William was still alive in 1871 but haven't tracked him any further.
Eliza Thornton (nee Gell ) remarried in 1861 to Amos Simants in Riseley so presumably Henry Thornton died at a relatively young age.
Eliza died in the September Qtr 1894 according to my records. Have to say the family is quite remote from me. Eliza Gell was my great gran's first cousin once removed.
My great gran came to New Zealand in 1878.
Do let me know if you find a connectionto Eliza & Henry, which might be through William born 1851 in Riseley.
regards
Marlene
